About RICS

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors was founded in London in 1868 as the Institution of Surveyors. It received a Royal Charter in 1881 and became the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1947. Members must meet its professional standards, and firms it regulates must have complaints handling and insurance in place.
